I have a fond memory of getting a garlic and onion knish at Yonah Schimmel's before a movie screening at the old Landmark Sunshine movie theatre, which of course no longer exists. It was such a delightful treat to have while at the movies. Would love to go back for another savory knish next time I visit NYC. The interior has a great mom and pop feel, nothing fancy. The fact that this business has been around for over 100 years just makes you feel as if you are stepping back in time. Definitely a Lower East Side and New York City institution. An important cultural landmark!

Everything is great keep up the amazing work and great tasting knishes I lived near the store and would go there when I could afford to buy a knish the year1950 -1953 until I moved

One thing that I hope never changes is the potato knish from Yonah Shimmel. About the size of a bagel, and fluffy potato, so not heavy. It makes a satisfying side dish for a meal or a very substantial snack. Even my finicky relatives never having tried one love them.
